Vegan Bake Sale in Arlington

Since my daughter was born, I've run increasingly into non-vegan moms who imagine being vegan is being neglectful and being impoverished. And, not merely moms, various others who pursue leather in fashion, dairy in cuisine, and the consumption of animal products as an everyday activity, regardless of their interests in being green.

We who have been vegan for years and healthy for years know differently, that being vegan is really being supremely healthy and living an enriched rather than impoverished life. We also know it's a way of staying sentient, connecting our awareness of animals--other sentient beings on this planet--to our food choices and our fashion choices. And staying green.  If you think about it, vegan green is the only real green, given the way the animal product industry consistently and continuously and inevitably destroys our environment.

It's possible though that many non-vegans simply have no idea how to gain nutrition from a vegan diet, nor that their food and fashion choices continuously sustain and promote animal-product industries which inevitably practice cruelty to animals and destruction of the environment.

So I'm starting this blog--in fellowship with all the other vegan blogs out there!--to offer a place to post information on nutrition, health, fashion, animals, and the environment for vegans and non-vegans alike, in the hope that knowing more will help more of us become and stay linked to the planet and to all other animals on it in positive, co-existing ways, help more of us stay sentient. If you would like to post a link to your vegan/animal-friendly/earth-friendly blog or site or draw attention to a news article, please drop me a line.

If you're in Arlington, come out this Saturday to Central Library to taste and take home fabulous items from a vegan bake sale being organized by a local group of wonderful people from Compassion for Animals. I'm hoping to bake cranberry orange bread and savory herb scones...see you there!
